The Miracle League of NW Ohio

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteer Buddies:  Volunteer Buddies are really critical to the Miracle League of Northwest Ohio. The Miracle League is a baseball league that includes kids with special needs. We play on a barrier free rubberized surface that allows specials needs kids and kids in wheelchairs, walker, or other mobility devises to move around the field easily and safe. Volunteer buddies are needed to be with the players on the field. Many of our kids need assistance with throwing, catching, hitting, and moving around the field. Some require only verbal direction and some require full hands-on assistance. The abilities of our players vary, but volunteers make the experience of playing baseball very enjoyable for our players. We place a volunteer buddy with each player so around 20 volunteers are needed for each game. We play on 8 Sundays during the year, and each week we play we have 4 games lasting about an hour each game. Volunteers groups are always welcome and have become very important to our organization.

Mission Statement:

“Provide opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to play Miracle League baseball, regardless of their abilities.” Promote community support and sponsorship of Miracle Leagues. “Promote the construction of special facilities that meet the unique needs of Miracle League Players, their families and friends. We cannot change or cure the medical issues life has dealt people with disabilities. What we can do is provide them with an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing our national pastime-baseball. We believe, “Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball.”
